Established in the summer of 2017, the GNCBL strives to meet the needs of those college baseball players who want a competitive place to work on their skills without having to travel extensively. The ability to play quality ball while having a “home-base” allows for solid employment schedules, taking advantage of internship opportunities, and other activities, while they increase their baseball acuity to better help their college teams.
Starting with 4 teams in 2017, 5 in 2018, and 6 in 2019, the league has been steadily growing since its creation. As shown below, 40+ different schools have sent players to the GNCBL, spanning across all collegiate divisions. The league features the Nor'Easters, Norsemen, Patriots, and Windjammers. Playing around 25 games throughout the summer, the league starts at the beginning of June and ends in mid-August.
In the summer of 2019, the Maine Lightning and New Hampshire Mavericks joined the GNCBL. The Norsemen won the league championship in 2017 and 2018, and the Nor'easters beat the Patriots in last summer's championship series to take home the GNCBL crown.
