GNCBL Weekly Player Awards 6/9 - 6/15
On Monday, the Greater Northeast Collegiate Baseball League announced its player and pitcher of the week honorees for the week of June 9th through June 15th.
Mason Buck - Player Of The Week
The senior went 7-11 at the plate, leading the Woodworkers' offensive effort in a 4-0 week that puts them at the top of the GNCBL. The infielder, who currently plays at St. Olaf College, a Division III program in Minnesota, drove in four runs with a .714 on-base percentage. Buck had a 100% stolen base percentage as he swiped six bases over the four-game stretch. The Waterville Woodworker had three extra base hits, including one triple.
Noah Fitzgerald - Pitcher Of The Week
The Old Orchard Beach Bug threw a 5-inning shutout, only allowing 4 hits. The lefty struck out four batters and only allowed four walks in his 5 innings of work. Fitzgerald, who plays at Salve Regina, a Division lll program in Rhode Island, was key in their win over the Sebago Slammin Salmon as the team as the team has started off 3-1.
