This Week In the GNCBL!

After Two Consecutive Rainouts-

The League finally returned to action this Sunday, 7/17. Games were played at the FOD complex in Harrison

where the Anglers hosted the Patriots, At The Ballpark in OOB the Norsemen and Lightning tangles, and the Windjamers traveled to Goodall Park to tale on the NorEasters.

In the first game of the day, a single 9 inn. affair between the Anglers & Patriots, the Patriots were able to come away with the 7-3 win to improve their record to 8-9 on the season.

At OOB, the Lightning took game #1 of the DH by a score of 10-4 behind a balanced hitting attack. Sequin and Hendrix both went 3-4 in the victory, with 2 doubles, a triple, 3 RBI's, and 4 Runs between them. Game #2 saw

the Norsemen bounce back behind a complete game gem by Luke Linnehan. Luke was able to silence the Lightning bats scattering 5 hits and striking out 10 while giving up just 1 ER.

Goodall Park in Sanford played host to the Windjammers and NorEasters for (2) games. The NorEasters were

able to get the better of things in Gm. #1, 14-0, behind the 5 inn shutout pitching of Connor Wagstaff . In

addition, Hunter Lohr, Dylan Firmin both added (3) RBI and (2) R each to pace the hitting attack. The NorEasters' Dylan Miner was virtually un-hittable and carried a no no into the 7th inning when Windjamers hitters were

finally able to break through. The final was 5-3 NorEasters as they were able to complete the sweep for the day.

Playoffs Are Here!  Next Game is Aug.2nd

The League Honors-
Each week we will choose a player whose accomplishments on the field set him aside from his competition. That player and his stats will be listed here along side each weeks' top player(s).

Player Of the Week:

7/17-7/24. With this being our last full week of the regular season we are getting into those hot hazy "dog days" of Summer, and there are some whose play matches the weather. HOT! Caleb Hendrix of the Lightning has been on fire going 9-15 for a .600 BA while putting up 10 RBI and 3R. Caleb is our unanimous choice this week. Congrats!

Pitcher Of the Week:

On the bump, Dylan Miner from the NorEasters set the mark to beat as he tossed 10.1 innings, striking out 18 along the way and allowing just 3 ER over that period. A terrific job Dylan! GNCBL Pitcher Of the Week!

If you were unable to attend our event on 7/15 and would still like to support our Maine Cancer Foundation Fundraiser , you can do so here by clicking the BUTTON below. This will direct you to Paypal where you can make a donation in any

amount that you see fit. Thank you for supporting the League and our cause!

So our 2022 All Star/ Benefit game is in the books. Teams from the GNCBL and SMMBL met at USM's Ed Flaherty Field last Friday night (7/15). It was a great night for baseball and we were able to raise over $2000 for the Maine Cancer Foundation. Those donations will be given to the Foundation in the name of Vinnie Degifico. We were pleased to welcome Vinnie's family (Cindy, Anthony, and Maria) to the field where his wife, Cindy, threw out the first pitch.

Both teams competed well and enjoyed the evening with the squad from the GNCBL getting the better of things.

Special thanks to the SMMBL for helping make this a possibility. We would also like to thank all who attended and supported our cause, including USM and the Western Me. Umpires who donated their time and facilities. Below are a few pics from the evening!

GNCBL Mission Statement: Who We Are

The GNCBL strives to meet the needs of those college baseball players who want a competitive place to work on their skills without having to travel extensively. The ability to play quality ball while having a “home-base” allows student athletes to have solid employment schedules, take advantage of internship opportunities, etc, while increasing their baseball acuity to better help their college teams.
