This Week In the GNCBL!

Parity Is the Word of the Week.

The League is hitting its' stride as we finish up the 3rd week of play. Teams are pretty tightly stacked with only a couple of games separating them in the standings, as the other teams are getting stronger each game. This Father's Day weekend will see the Norsemen and Patriots square off over at St. Joe's, while the Lightning travel to Harrison Field Of Dreams to take on the Anglers. The Windjammers will play host to the NorEasters down in Stratham, NH to round things out. Below is a recap of the action for this past week:

There were two DH's last Sunday (6/12) as the Patriots had the day off.  In the opener of the Norsemen- Anglers meeting, the Anglers scored 3 runs in the 6th to break open a close game,  winning 5-1. Sam Malgeri went 2-2 and Max Lalime was 2-3 at the plate, each scoring a run for the WJammers. Oscar Lalime notched the win. Game #2 saw the Norsemen bounce back 7-5 to take the victory. Morgan Doughty and Kyle Douin each were 2-3 and had extra base hits as Doughty legged out a double and Douin had the first HR of the season! Lucas Francis took the win for the Norsemen..... At OOB, the Anglers and NorEasters also split a DH. TheAnglers grabbed the first 2-1 behind some strong pitching by winner Joseph Godomsky and the N'Easters evened things up taking game two 3-1. Dylan Miner went 5 inn for the 'Easters to get the win.

Tuesday (6/14) saw the Anglers taking on the Norsemen at the Ballpark. The Norsemen came away with the "W" to better their record to 4-2. Pat Sawyer took the win behind a 6 strike out performance.

We closed out the week on Thurs. 6/16. The Lightning hosted the Norsemen and came away from their first came with the 6-4 victory. At St. Louis Field the Patriots took on the Wjammers. Arlo Pike and Nick Merrill each went deep for the Patriots and wound each going 2-3 with 2 RBI's in a losing cause. The Wjammers took home the win behind the pitching of John Luchsinger (WP). The hitting attack was led by Braeden Watson 2-3, double, 2 RBI as well as Will Hindle and Alex Noel who both went 2-4. Noel also had 2 doubles on the day.

The other game of the day had the Anglers taking on the NorEasters. The League Honors-
Each week we will choose a player whose accomplishments on the field set him aside from his competition. That player and his stats will be listed here along side each weeks' top player(s).

Player Of the Week:

Each week we will choose a player whose accomplishments on the field set him aside from his competition. That player and his stats will be listed here along side each weeks' top player.

For the period from 6/19-6/23 we would like to honor Luke Chessie as our PLAYER OF THE WEEK. Luke compiled a .456 BA and along the way added a HR, (3) Doubles, 5 RBI's, and 4 Runs scored. Not a bad week's work to be sure. Congratulations on a job well done!

Pitcher Of the Week:

This past week there were a number of strong performances on the mound. Guys are competing at a higher level and individual acheivements are great to see, such as the WJammer's Oliver Leonard who had a 7 inn. shutout of the NorEasters last Sunday.  But one outing stood out from the rest as a dominant Owen Sullivan struck out 11, giving up just 1 hit on his way to a "W" for the Patriots. Congratulations to Owen! Terrific job!
