The Players League Introduces “Maine Beach Ball” Baseball Ahead of 2026 Season

A fresh, high-energy approach to college summer baseball designed to enhance fan engagement

OLD ORCHARD, MAINE – The Players League is changing things up in a big way this summer. The Greater Northeast Collegiate League is set to debut “Beach Ball,” bringing a new level of excitement to Old Orchard, Maine. The inaugural Beach Ball season is set to begin in June 2026. All four teams in the league will play at a single location, The Ballpark at Old Orchard Park. This historic ballpark has served as the home to many teams since its opening in 1984, including the former Triple-A affiliate of both the Cleveland Guardians and Philadelphia Phillies. 

While the teams will continue to play under the same GNCBL rules, the league is taking a new approach to summer baseball. This change brings in a more entertainment-driven environment that benefits both the players and the fans. While player development still stands as the highest priority, Beach Ball represents a step forward in how collegiate summer baseball can connect with today’s audience. 

“We’re excited for this new chapter for the GNCBL in Maine and for the Old Orchard community,” says Chad Drouin, General Manager of the GNCBL. “I believe this will be a great experience and opportunity for the collegiate players of Maine, and I’m certain great baseball will be on display day in and day out.”
